Welcome to Commpolium

Ask. Listen. Interact. Agree. Succeed. The home of Wispiration.

Why we would like you to join us

We are on a mission to support the world's
B.E.S.T. (business, engineering, science, technology)
professionals to become more proficient

 at communicating across cultures.

Maybe you're wondering:

Why B.E.S.T. professionals?

It's simple. Some of the world's greatest experts are B.E.S.T. professionals. As long as they speak with their peers, everything is fine. But when a non-expert is looking for insights, it may not be so easy. We are here to make sure that everyone understands the value that needs to be expressed and that this happens effectively and efficiently.

What does communicating across cultures mean?

In today's complex world, culture is not only defined by the country in your passport or where you currently live. Organizations have their own culture; even departments within those organizations. If you're a researcher, you may not be able to explain your ideas to someone from the marketing department very easily. Those other people "speak a different language", even if everyone in the room was born in the same town.

Where does the name Commpolium come from?

Commpolium is a portmanteau. See, this is exactly what we mean. The non-expert word for this is blend, when parts of two words are put together to make a new one.

Comm comes from communication and community.

Polium comes from thermopolium, the "restaurants" of the ancient Roman and Greek times where travellers could get food and information about the city they were visiting. The picture above is an original one from Pompeii, Italy, built in the first century AD.

We've decided to set up a virtual thermopolium here at Mighty Networks.
This is a place for those looking for "food for thought" on
communication across cultures. Our location is always open.
There's plenty of "food" to share and ideas and experiences to be exchanged.

Please join us in our venture to make our world
more understandable and better understood by everyone,
experts and non-experts, by developing skills and
providing insights and support for
efficient and effective communication.
